HSM 3 or Father/Daughter Dance?

We try to make Friday nights family movie nights.  Unless you pick just the right movie, someone is typically not interested.  Usually it is the 2 year olds.  This past week Ben went to SAMS to get something ( I can't remember what) and saw the perfect movie for our movie night - High School Musical 3.  Unfortunately, at the same time, I was asking the girls if they wanted to go to the Father/Daughter dance at school.  I thought this would be great bonding time for the girls and a good opportunity for Ben to cut loose, showing off what he learned in college at all those fraternity socials.  The girls at first said no and then changed their minds.  I filled out the form and the check and sent them on their way.  Ben even confirmed their decision several times over the next couple days.  The girls were ready to boogie . . . but, hey, what movie did you get Daddy?  He wasn't telling.  So today, I attempted to go up to school(with the boys) and watch the volcanos erupt only to find out I had missed it by 30 minutes.  I somehow "missed" the email telling the time???  After that fiasco, I checked the girls out of school and took them to get their nails done.  They were in heaven!  I, on the other hand, thought I was going to have to pull out some kung-foo moves to keep the guy from painting the boys nails.  He was so persistent. Do you realize how much trouble I would be in?  So we leave Queen's nails and head to Sonic for a small snack and then run to the flower shop for the corsages.  The girls have no idea I've ordered them.  They are a surprise for Ben to give them.  So everybody gets home, showers, let's me do their hair(a big accomplishment!) and gets their clothes on.  The girls looked so pretty.  Ben pulls out the corsages and Hayden is thrilled.  Ally on the other hand has no clue what she is supposed to do with that thing all night.  Ben puts them on their wrists and she still has a look of hesitation.  We snap some photos and they head out.  When they return they are pooped.  They've had a great time.  Hayden and Ben danced a lot and Ally (ditched her Daddy) danced with some girlfriends.  The corsages, well, Ally has hers shoved in the pocket of her coat and Hayden is still wearing hers. Here are some before pictures:

Let's go fly a kite . . .

We took the kids up to Legacy's playground for a little family bonding.  Ben thought it would be fun to take Hayden's kite as well.  While Ben "prepared" the kite, I played around with the kids on the playground.  Once Ben was ready, all four little birds followed him out to the parking lot to assist in the flight.  You can see by the pictures why it took a little longer to get the thing to fly.  We may have had too much help.  I did notice at one point all the kids and me back at the playground and Ben (alone) flying the kite.  He finally figured it out and joined us.

A future cake decorator

Hayden went to Abbey's birthday yesterday.  It was a cake decorating party at a bakery in town.  She was so proud of her cake.  They were shown how to make different types of icing decorations and then let go on their own cake.  We(me and the four kids) got to eat some while Ben was out of town, so we had to freeze 2 pieces for he and Hayden to eat when he returned. When she is sweet, she is oooooh so sweet.
